You can blame it on Rio, or my friend Fern
I opened Fern’s email.
You must read Pioneer Woman.
I’m an obedient friend when plied with flowery words such as must and read, so I did.
I emailed Fern.
OMG, I want to be Pioneer Woman when I grow up. Without the calf nuts. Or the mud. Or the homeschooling.
Good luck with that, Fern replied.
I persisted.
She’s just writing about her life. I used to do that. I could do it again. I’d write the truth about carpools, raising kids, having friends and my life as a single mom in a tiny and very married suburb. Life here is so mundane it’s fascinating. (She lives here, and knows it to be true) And I’d still have my other blog.
Fern was tough.
Yes, you could do all that and more — but remember, it takes Pioneer Woman fifteen minutes to drive from one end of her ranch to another.
I was tougher.
It takes me fifteen minutes to pick up sushi.
* * *
So here I am. Back in the land of the mom blogosphere.
Hang onto your calf nuts. We’re in for a ride

Janet? Amy is asking me to comment on my view of the comment bos. It’s around 1/2″w x 2″h and I’m only able to see around 5 letters on one line. Hope this helps…there, Amy, I did what you asked me to!

@sister-friend,
Everything looks fine to me so I think it’s a browser issue. Can you tell me what browser (and version, platform) you are using? Thanks!

Amy, do you still have kids at home? I ask because I keep getting attracted to the mommy blogging conversations and find me reminding myself that, with only the empty nest and related developments (grandbabies), I’m maybe not a ‘mommy’ any more.

@Janet Tabin,
I have a 17 year old and a 14 year old…so I consider myself a mom-blogger not a mommy-blogger.
I find myself attracted to well-written blogs, no matter the age of the mom or the kids - if there’s some universal themes or damn good writing. Or photos of cute dogs.
Ah, the fine lines we draw — and have around our eyes, eh Janet?

Bring it on! And wasn’t it nice of you to pass Fern’s recommendation on to other slightly addicted bloggy friends?!

Congrats on the new blog! I also read Pioneer Woman … she is an amazing photographer!
I look forward to reading life stories. I am very intrigued/interested in others lives … how they live them, what they do for entertainment, what they find interesting. Amazes me how every single person is so different.
Thank you for sharing!

I’m just catching up on my reader, but I’m so glad you’re “back”- that’s the best thing about blogging- you can enter and re-enter at your leisure. Good to see you again.

@Erica Orloff,
Thanks Erica. It’s good to be back writing about life in general in addition to rambling about writing. More blogs = more fun. (for now!)
